| Definitions for Past Life Therapy
alignment - the resolution of prior trauma
which removes the influence of that past trauma from current behavior
birth trauma - the subjective experiences
for the baby which occur during the process of delivery and form unconscious
survival patterns
childhood and past lives - the awareness
of past lives for children usually fades around the ages of four to six.
However, they are easily retrived if the child is allowed to feel free
and safe
childhood reincarnation memories - these
memories of past lives are readily available to children during the first
3-5 years of life. They often include imaginary playmates and highly creative
imaginations. Children can be asked questions about these "imaginary
lives" and they will often give striking detail that demonstrates knowledge
that a child of this age would not "normally" have.
fetal memories - memories coming from the
third month through the ninth month during pregnancy when the developing
embryo becomes fetal; during regression therapy, many adults will recount
events that occurred while in the womb that can later be confirmed by the
mother. Certain traumatic memories can have profound effects during a person's
lifetime. (also called womb memories)
holotropic therapy - a therapy that expands
the mind beyond the conscious, cognitive mind to include spiritual and
metaphysical sources
hypnotism - the use of a process which
redirects or depotentiates the cerebral function thus allowing new information
to be accepted without critical evaluation
hypnotic regression - hypnotic regression
uses a process of redirected focus to bypass the cognitive mind thus revealing
unconscious events
leak or leak through - a covert unconscious
influence from a past life alters true reality today
prenatal regression - the process by which
thoughts, emotions, and events during pregnancy are discovered to reveal
a life path.
past life regression - the process by which
prior experiences are brought into focus
past life therapy - an experiential process
which accesses prior existences to resolve unresolved traumas from those
lives
past life traumas - experiences occurring
in prior incarnations that exert negative influences in current times
past lives - prior earthly existences during
which spiritual identity is in physical form
recall - any memory of an event prior to
current time
soul memory retrieval - another description
of regression. The soul is believed to have fragmented during past traumas
and must be reintegrated.
spontaneous recall or recollection - similar
to leaks, these memories come without conscious effort to bring them to
the surface. They usually occur when current experiences are strongly sugestives
of a prior trauma or prior relationships
subconscious - a level of mind-brain information
which connects conscious and unconscious motivations
survival patterns - behavior patterns in the current life that reflect past life traumas or experiences that have not been resolved; many of these survival patterns can be destructive, such as addictions, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive behaviors, spousal or child abuse, self-mutilation, chronic pain or illness, or other self-defeating patterns of behavior that on some deep level are perceived as "necessary" for survival. Past life therapy strives to bring these unresolved
traumas into alignment with present time so that the negative survival patterns are no longer necessary in the current lifetime
